LibertyONE misses the big picture by focusing on small meaningless words like "Socialist".
The reason people sit by and watch it happen is because we've watched everything that has happened up till now "just happen". Corporations, such as WalMart (just an off the top of my head example), who should have been forced to provide healthcare for workers, were allowed to not do so. How many people who work for WalMart really have insurance? How many don't, and live off the State? The argument is that by providing health insurance for all employees would raise prices for consumers, but we all pay for it one way or the other in the end. We called "the failure" to provide insurance, because it would adversely affect consumers AND PROFITS, Capitalism. We call the need to insure those people Socialism. By the way, if we don't insure them we all end up picking the tab up anyway. We all watched that happen, and we sat by as it did. A little bit of government intervention into Capitalism would have stopped a lot of where we're heading now, but that was also called Socialism.
The reality is that everyone who talks of Socialism now is just beginning to taste that double-edge sword they've been wildly wielding called Capitalism. Capitalism has given us everything we have and more, and now it's time to pay the bill for all of the lack of regulation that has occurred. We will return to Capitalism, hopefully sooner than later, and much more wise. However, we've created all our own problems in the name of "free-markets" and "deregulation".
